Apuleia leiocarpa (Vogel) J.F.Macbr.

General features: it is a yellow wood. It can be found from the Brazilian States of Pará, in the Amazon (north of Brazil), to Rio Grande do Sul, in southern Brazil, especially in the Atlantic Forest Park in the States of Bahia and Espírito Santo. The tree height varies between 25-35 meters (82-115 feet). It blooms in August and September when the tree is completely bare. It fruits in January and February.

Handling: it is not a satisfactory work using the planer, however, it is easy to work with sandpaper, lathe, drill and nails.

Commercial use: it is used to build bridges, fencing, railways, mast, beams, doors, framing, parquet floor, boards, counters, ladder, general home furniture, tool handle, transport vessels, etc.
