General features: core and sapwood alike in color, reddish brown, non-glossy surface, unpleasant smell, high density, irregular gran revessa texture.

Density: in lab tests, this wood has shown that high resistance against xylophagous organisms (fungi and termites). It shows resistance to rotten fungi (white and brown) and dry wood termites, however, it is not resistant to marine xylophages. Studies have shown that the durability of this wood is greater than 12 years in contact with the soil.

Drying: slow outdoors drying process without major flaws such as cracks or wear. In the greenhouse, there is a slight probability of flaws.

Handling: this wood is easy to work with hand tools or machines. It is easy to saw, flatten, twist, glue and nails. The use of nails without initial drilling may cause cracking. It is easy to give it a satisfactory finishing. It goes well with the glue, however, it is not suitable to produce plywood, because it has original cracks in its core. It goes well with paint, varnish, paste and polish.
