Dipteryx odorata (Aubl.) Wilid.

General features: yellowish brown core different from the very light brown sapwood. Different growing rings, "gran revessa", medium to fine texture, no shine and unnoticeable odor.

Density: heavy wood with 12% de humidity 1.080 kg/m3 and a green density of 1.280 kg/m3.

Drying: moderately slow outdoor, but faster in the greenhouse with some tendency to twisting during the drying stage 3.

Handling: difficult to work with, however, it delivers excellent finishing to the spinning process. It shows low quality finishing using sandpaper or planer.

Durability: resistant to fungi, insects and marine drill. When used as an anti-shock on well-drained soil, its durability life span is 10 to 22 years.

Conservation: no possibility to process the wood with creosote or CCA-A even under pressure process.

Commercial use: indoor and outdoor construction, parquet flooring, tool handle, framing, decorative wood plate, etc.
